350 new students, parents and supporters were warmly received at St Hilda’s College on Welcome Saturday, February 23rd.
Excitement filled the air as residents settled into their new home away from home. Friendly introductions were made as the new community members familiarised themselves with the leafy College campus and modern student rooms.
Moving to a new place can be scary, however our friendly and supportive staff and O-Week Leaders were there to make everyone feel welcome. A wonderfully diverse range of new students arrived this year. Many from rural Victoria, interstate and from overseas countries including France, USA, NZ, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore.
The new arrivals thoroughly enjoyed the delicious ice cream cart. The welcome lunch and coffee cart were also a great success and provided the opportunity to get to know one another as well as the College brain’s trust, the sensational Residential Tutoring Team.
As a close-knit living community, St Hilda’s is connected across generations by the Communitas spirit. It was lovely to see that sense of community and family tradition continue when Chloe Walton arrived. Chloe’s parents, Belinda and Rodney, met at St Hilda’s whilst studying at the University of Melbourne and now Chloe has the wonderful opportunity to experience what St Hilda’s College has to offer.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting all our new students and we are sure to achieve wonderful things with our remarkable cohort.
