Our Academic Mentoring Program supports first-year students transitioning to university learning with the tools they need to develop both academically and personally.
The Senior Mentoring Program links current students to college alumni and industry professionals; these connections can assist with employment and work experience opportunities.
There are many ways St Hilda’s will prepare you for professional life and personal development. From your first day, you will be connected to an academic and personal mentor who will help you grow and develop over the course of your first year. Plus, our employability program has embedded leadership skills development at its heart.
Leadership isn’t limited to people in particular positions. At St Hilda’s we believe people lead in all different ways, by taking initiative, volunteering and getting involved in areas where you are stretched.
We want to help you develop into a values-based leader that others will follow.
Edge Employability Program
Your future is important to us. We developed the Edge Employability Program to support and guide our students as they take on the world post-graduation. The three-year program is designed to teach important skills for today’s job market, including goal setting, conflict resolution and communication skills, while also preparing you to take on competitive job interviews and building your self-confidence.
Through targeted workshops, supervised field work and professional industry events, students have the opportunity to connect with like-minded students and mentors while gaining confidence personally, academically and professionally.
We always look for ways to support our students, including opportunities to earn your own money. There are various opportunities for students to work while at college including in the dining hall, in maintenance and grounds and in our conference business department. In their second year, students also have the opportunity to apply for paid internships within the college to further their workplace experience.
Thanks to our inner-city location, local work opportunities and internships are also available close to the college. We offer support to current students who need help with their CVs and job hunting from our in-house Academic and Student Support Advisor.
“As a place to grow, to make friends, to feel safe, and make room for your own opportunities,
Hilda’s has no match.”
