Saturday’s intercollegiate rowing regatta was one of the most highly anticipated sporting events of the year.

On 4 May, Hilda’s supporters braved the cold and packed the banks of the Yarra River, ready to cheer on their crews.

The icy weather did not deter the supporters’ high spirits, their voices carried across the water to motivate the St Hilda’s rowers.

Congratulations to the second division women’s crew who lifted and finished strong, achieving a wonderful third place overall.

Diego the Dragon mascot provided wonderful entertainment on the river bank, stirring up the crowd and posing for the camera. Even losing one of his eyes in the excitement!

Sports Representative, Eve Gregor, said “everyone was excited to participate and put in a truly impressive effort. Considering the size of St Hilda’s College compared to others, we provide strong competition and are never afraid to try our best. Some of the men’s crew had never even rowed before and were kindly filling in for friends who were unable to attend the regatta.”

As always, congratulations to St Hilda’s College for demonstrating team spirit, enthusiasm and determination.
