Hilda's sport

Sports

Achievement comes in a range of flavours. At St Hilda’s we encourage excellence beyond the books, celebrating success in team and individual pursuits. We punch well above our weight in intercollegiate sports, and often win the competition, but we also have great fun competing.

Rowing oars in the Dining Hall

sports

Enjoy easy access to top notch university facilities including the footy oval, athletics track and tennis courts.

Intercollegiate sport is a regular fixture for residents, who train for and participate in competitive tournaments for cricket, hockey, netball, footy, basketball and more. The rowing regatta is a festive calendar feature. There is a sport for everyone, including the sport of cheering others on to do their best!

Mens Hockey 2019

Have some fun

Some of our students have played their sport at a national or state level, while others have tried a sport for the first time and found their thing!  Intercollegiate sport at Hilda's is competitive, with our College punching far above our weight. Recent Grand Champions of Female Hockey, Mixed Badminton, Female Swimming, Female Netball, and overall third in Track and Field, St Hilda's College is a strong sporting College.  In 2019, we won the whole competition, one of many times over the years.

Gym Facilities

Exercise and Gym

The College is surrounded by beautiful and spacious parks where going for a run or walk is very safe and easy.  However, your student club fees cover full access to an on-site gym and that has a large range of high-quality exercise equipment to help you keep fit all year round.  If you want a larger playground, you are also a member through the college at UniMelb Sport.  There are no excuses to be unfit!
