Living in Melbourne is expensive regardless of where you choose to live. At Hilda's, your fees cover so much more than a room and are great value for money. Over half of our students have a scholarship and a third of our students work at the College in a paid capacity.

Basic fees

Fees are set by the College Council in November each year.
The 2022 basic annual fee is $32,100 AUD.
This covers:
  • a fully-furnished single study bedroom
  •  fully-catered residency for a maximum of 39 weeks (no moving out mid-year!)
  • IT services, including a data connection port in each room, and unlimited data within the College’s usage policy
  • weekly tutorials for university subjects
  • pastoral and welfare support, including a first-year student mentoring program and in-house counselling services
  • free laundry facilities 
  • use of extensive academic resources in college library
  • access to the college gym
  • (excludes enrolment deposit of $500 and academic gown worth $50).

Additional fees

  • Enrolment fee (new students only): $770 AUD
  • Orientation week: $870 AUD
  • Room bond: $500 AUD (refundable upon departure from college if no damages occur in the student's name)
  • Academic gown purchase: $50 AUD
  • Student amenities fee (pays for membership of the Student Club, events, and other student-related activities): $395 AUD

The annual fee for returning students is $32,495 AUD. This comprises the residential fee and student amenities fee.

*Residents are permitted to remain in College during the mid-year winter recess.

St Hilda's College is a living community and residential college on campus at the University of Melbourne.
